Why is my game lagging? |
Lag can happen for a variety of reasons. It’s important to determine whether the lag is client-side or server-side in order to troubleshoot effectively. |
What is client-side lag? |
Client-side lag occurs due to issues on the player’s computer rather than the server. Causes may include: - Performance issues related to your PC's hardware - Poor internet connection - High latency (ping) - Not allocating enough RAM to CurseForge (especially if using shaders/resource packs) - Running shaders/resource packs too heavy for your PC - A large number of entities in one area Client-side lag will only impact your game: FPS drops, freezing, or crashes may occur. |
How can I fix client-side lag? |
Possible solutions include: - Update your PC’s drivers - Close background applications - Lower render distance - Allocate ~6GB RAM to CurseForge - Change graphics settings from fancy to fast - Check your internet connection - Turn off heavy shader/resource packs or use lighter versions |
What is server-side lag? |
Server-side lag affects all players connected to the server and may include: delayed chest access, chat delay, or teleport lag. It is typically caused by sudden spikes in server RAM or CPU usage. Some lag is normal for our modpack due to resource-heavy mods such as GA, Alex's Mobs, and SWEM. |
Why do entities affect lag? |
Large numbers of entities can cause FPS drops and server lag. This is why we have:- Animal caps - Mob farm restrictions - Rules about building properties near each other Respecting these caps ensures the server runs smoothly. Rendering multiple Asheerah x MrFear model horses at once may also impact FPS depending on your device; spreading them out is recommended. |
How do I contact staff about technical issues? |
Open a support ticket on Discord after performing self-troubleshooting. Steps to try first: - Restart your PC - Repair your CurseForge/CurseForge profile - Check for outdated drivers or updates - Redownload the modpack We do not support modpacks with altered configurations or additional client-side mods. Revert to the default profile for best results. |
What should I include in a support ticket? |
Provide a detailed description of your issue, including:- What triggers the problem - Recent crash logs (if applicable) - Steps already tried to fix the issue You may also reference YouTube tutorials for guidance if unsure how to complete any of the steps. |
