Rescue

Welcome to the Canterlands Rescue - we're so glad you're thinking about adopting one (or more!) of the animals in our care.Before proceeding, please ensure that you have read all animal and horse welfare requirements, as well as the rules below. 

Our rescue can be accessed on /server iron-hoof-isles, then run the command /warp rescue! Rescue may also take in animals/horses via surrender if they are no longer wanted. We will try our best to rehome all animals however due to quantity they will be cleared periodically in order to prioritize spaces for, or make new spaces for existing/new animals.

ADOPTIONS

Rule Details
Application Limit Players may place a maximum of two applications for rescue lots per rescue cycle.
Breeding Facilities Rescue horses will not be rehomed to breeding facilities. Facility owners may still apply, but applications where the provided coordinates lead to a breeding facility will not be counted.
Breeding All rescue horses are made infertile and therefore cannot be bred.
Applying for Others You may not apply for an animal or horse on behalf of another player. The intended owner must submit the application and collect the animal if selected.
Property Checks When an application is submitted, a member of staff will check the provided property to ensure that it complies with all applicable welfare guidelines.
Welfare History Applications are more likely to be denied if the applicant has received multiple or severe welfare warnings, especially within a short duration of time.
Lot Pricing Prices are listed outside each pen or stall. Unless otherwise stated, all animals within a lot must be purchased together.
Individual Pricing If a lot is marked "$200 EACH", each animal is adopted separately. Please specify the exact animal you are applying for.

IMPORTANT: Rescue horses and animals cannot be sold for at least 14 days from the date of the mail notification sent on Discord.

Rescue Branding

All horses that do not already have a brand will be branded.
 

APPLICATION SELECTION

Applications are assessed based on a number of factors. Being the only applicant for an animal does not guarantee that you will be selected.

Common Reasons an Application May Not Be Selected

Reason Details
Welfare Issues Welfare problems involving any animals on the property may affect your application and will likely result in it being denied.
Application Quality/Quantity Applications with very little detail are less likely to be selected. We generally recommend at least 3 high-quality sentences, applications may be denied if it does not meet this quantity/quality.
Multiple Applicants More than one player may apply for the same animal, meaning we will select the most suitable applicant.
Previous Welfare Warnings Multiple or severe welfare warnings may reduce the likelihood of an application being accepted.

 

WHAT WE LOOK FOR

All applicants are assessed using the same general criteria.

Factor What We Consider
Space Larger and appropriately designed spaces may be considered more suitable than areas that only meet the minimum requirements.
Enrichment Access to outdoor access, pastures, runs, enrichment, etc may strengthen your application.
Application Quality Applications containing 3+ thoughtful, high-quality sentences are recommended.
Effort Applications should show that the player has genuinely considered why they want the animal and how they intend to care for it.
Grammar & Readability Clear grammar and readable applications are preferred, as they help demonstrate that time and effort were put into the application.

Clearly AI-generated applications will be disqualified immediately.

Meeting the minimum welfare requirements does not automatically make an applicant the strongest candidate. A player who provides additional space, enrichment, and a thoughtful application may be selected over someone providing only the minimum requirements.

Even if you are the only applicant, you are not guaranteed to be selected for adoption.

If an animal is not collected by the start of the next rescue cycle it may be placed back up for adoption.

SURRENDERS

Players may surrender any animals or horses into the Rescue! 

How to Surrender an Animal

Step Instructions
1. Complete the Form Submit a Surrender Form, which can be found inside the office building at the Rescue.
2. Drop Off the Animal Place the animal or horse inside a barrel in the Rescue drop-off room. Ensure the signs are followed at the Rescue.
3. Rescue Processing The animal will then be processed by the Rescue and may later be listed for adoption. Please note due to volume, an animal is not always guaranteed to be placed into Rescue.

Please ensure that all required surrender information is included before leaving the animal in the drop-off area.
